History Hour 87 – “Dr. Jose Pereira Condolence Meeting” Tributes paid by Dr. Maria Aurora Couto, Mr. Uday Bhembre, Fr. J. Loiola Pereira, Mr. Damodar Mauzo and Dr. Savia Viegas held on Thursday, 29th January 2015.

Xavier Centre of Historical Research is saddened by the news of the demise of Dr. Jose Pereira, a theologian, writer and artist of international renown. He was an Adjunct Professor of East & West Cultural Relations at the Institute Superior de Estudos Ultramarinos in Lisbon and later a Professor of Theology at Fordham University, New York.

He was a son of the soil and his great love for his motherland is evident from the books and articles he published on Goan culture, language and music.

XCHR is honoured to have more than 25 of his paintings including a portrait of himself at a younger age in its collection.

To pay homage to this multi talented personality, Xavier Centre of Historical Research is organizing a Condolence Meeting at its premises on 29th January at 5.30pm.

Dr. Maria Aurora Couto, Mr. Uday Bhembre, Fr. J. Loiola Pereira, Mr. Damodar Mauzo and Dr. Savia Viegas will pay tributes on the occasion.
