History Hour 97 – ‘Healthy Nutrition and Goan food habits: Past and Present’ by Valentina D’Souza on Thursday held on 25th February, 2016

In her presentation Ms. Valentina dwelt on the history of the changing Goan food habits, and how traditional Goan foods like grains, pulses, vegetables etc are losing popularity and are now being replaced by fast foods. She highlighted how diets are influenced by cultural and religious norms.

Ms. Valentina D’Souza is presently working as a Lecturer cum Instructor at the ‘Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Goa. Besides lecturing on Food Science and Nutrition, she is part of the ‘Campus Placement Team’ and also a Research Guide. She has completed M Sc (Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics) with First Class from Nirmala Niketan, College Of Home Science, Mumbai. In the past she has worked as Guest Relation Executive in the Food and Beverage Department for Fort Aguada Beach Resort (Taj Group of Hotels) Sinquerim, Goa and in the Quality Control Department at Nestle India Limited Ponda, Goa. She has also worked at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai on a Research Project in Food Technology.
